About us
Based across South County Dublin trustus is an organisation working to provide help, support and advice to people that need it within the community.
Established in 1969, Tallaght Welfare Society have served the communities of Tallaght for 40 years and on September 1st, 2009 we will launch our new name
. As we move through 2009 the organisations activities, both existing and new, are stretching beyond Tallaght to the wider South County Dublin community and as we are one of the longest serving community or voluntary organisations in the area we see this as a natural progression. The organisation was the brainchild of Father Paul Hynes of the Dominican Order Tallaght, with the the help of Charlie O'Toole, the original concept for the organisation was to promote a Caring, Christian and Just Society by supporting the community on the ground.
With that concept in mind trustus has spent four decades operating at the coalface of community life providing a wide range of services to local people and organisations.
Our work often focuses on the elderly, the disabled and young people; with projects like home help, meals on wheels and social activities, but we also provide ongoing support to other groups from all walks of life.As part of our remit towards community capacity building trustus sit on a number of other community project boards of management and support the activities of many other social, care, voluntary and charitable organisations providing advice and guidance or facilitation and mediation on many community issues.
